Documents on Australian Defence and Foreign Policy 1968-1975
Walsh & Munster (eds), J. R. & G. J.
Self published,  1980. First Edition
Hardcover (Original Cloth) Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Very Good. First Edition. An extremely rare book that has accumulated a little history of its own. Munster and Walsh braved the fury of the Australian Government, and following the book's publication, the Government issued an interim injunction to ban the book, citing both the Crimes act and the Copyright act. Copies of the first edition, of which this is one, were impounded and they even went as far as to also seize the print runs of newspapers that reproduced extracts. The Government seemed especially uncomfortable with certain details in the book, dealing with Australia's involvement with the Indonesian invasion of East Timor. An extremely important work. Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Dust Jacket is in very good condition, without tears or chips or other damage. Dust Jacket un-clipped. Edges very slightly spotted or marked. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilogram. Rocky Section: An Australian Romance.
Partrige, Sydney; [Partridge, Sydney]; Murray, E. H. (illustrator).
Steele Rudd & Co. Ltd / Powell & Co. (Printers) Brisbane 1907
Hardback octavo, very good condition, pictorial tan cloth cover (lightly marked), black & white plates (including frontispiece), new endpapers, pages lightly toned (notably last page), minor edgewear, rubber bookshop stamp title page. 188 pp. An historical romance set in rural Australia. This novel originally appeared as a serial in "Steele Rudd's Magazine". The author's name is also Sydney Partridge in some other novels, and is a pseudonym for Kate Margaret Partridge (1871 - 1953), who wrote novels jointly with another writer. Contains all four plates (rarely found). Review: "This is an Australian love story pure and simple. A young Queenslander falls in love with a fascinating girl from town but is jilted in favour of a titled man with money. He becomes a misogynist of the deepest dye, and buries himself in a veritable wilderness called Rocky Section Ñ miles from anywhere. One day he discovers a girl near his place who has evidently lost her way and fainted from sheer exhaustion. He takes her to his hut and revives her, only to find that she has lost her memory and cannot tell where she comes from. He hates women with a bitter hatred, but is on the horns of a dilemma. What happens? "The way out" is most interesting, but you must read it for yourself."

I have endeavoured to let her tell the story of her life and work in her own letters and journals. Sometimes an explanatory note is appended, or passages from letters of different date are inserted, where the same subject is referred to, but in every case this has been indicated".
